According to the agency’s statistics, there was only one railway accident during these day (December 31, 2011 to January 3, 2012), which killed one and injured one.
During these period, traffic police officers handled more than 43,000 traffic violations, impounded 139 cars and nearly 6,000 motorbikes and collected VND13 billion ($600,000) of fine.
Police said that most of these violations were for speeding and driving in the wrong lane.
In the four-day National Day holiday (September 2-5, 2011), 149 traffic accidents were recorded, killing 139 and injuring 111 people. Police dealt with 48,000 traffic rule violations, collecting over VND11 billion ($500,000) of fine.
